The Underworld Franchise (2003-present)
The Underworld moviesare quite possibly one of the most successful series of production projects ever undertaken by an amalgamation of famous international production companies from Germany, Hungary, the United Kingdom, and obviously, the United States of America. The basic plot of the Underworld franchise was not initially favoured by majority of the movie critics, but still managed to gather a cult following among the youth with the release of its first instalment back in 2003. At this point, 15 years down the line, the Underworld movies remain a top favourite choice among all ages with a knack for intriguing action-horror films with a storyline relating to mythology. The franchise spans around the events in the life of Selene, portrayed consistently throughout the saga by Kate Beckinsale, who is a trained vampire warrior tasked with the duty of killing all Lycansin a universe where vampires and lycanthropes remain in a constant state of war. Despite the series following a seemingly cliched plot of a warrior girl from one clan brimming with revenge against a rival clan falling in love with a member of said rival clan, the Underworld saga has more than meets the eye.Deviating away from the traditional myths of vampires fearing garlic and holy water or having aviation abilities, and werewolves going feral in accordance with the waxing and waning of the moon, the Underworld movies are well-known for having taken its viewers onadventurousrides ever since 2003.
